Water hammer arrester Antishock

Did you know that closing your bathroom faucet can have serious consequences? Redecorating your bathroom or even installing a new one, it gives a great deal of pleasure. However, a very important part is often forgotten. Modern or traditional faucets deal with the water hammer phenomenon each time a pipe is closed rapidly by a device such as a single-lever mixing tap. The abruptness of the operation creates overpressure which adds to the existing pressure in the pipes and can have serious consequences…

Solutions for several applications

These pressure peaks cause wear and tear to components which are sensitive to increased pressure: plastic pipes, pressure reducers and faucets. Water hammer often occurs in case of rapid closing valves or taps such as single-lever mixing taps and solenoid valves of washing machines. Even so neither dishwashers nor wash hand basins and distribution manifolds are safe for the the water hammer phenomenon.

Water hammer arrester “Antishock”: compact, simple, healthy

Overpressure is absorbed by the Caleffi water hammer arrester. Unlike other solutions, such as a membrane, the “Antishock” is not subject to wear and tear. It operates following a mechanical principle with a high resistance polymer damping element with which pressure peaks are absorbed by a spring.

The water hammer arrester has reduced dimensions (max. 84,5mm x 74mm x 46mm). In order to seal the system, no flax is needed. An EPDM seal is provided. No zone of stagnant water in the “Antishock” if not in operation. Thus the risk of legionnaire’s disease is negligible.

Water hammer arrester “Antishock”: system advantages

The following problems are excluded by the use of a water hammer arrester:

* Breakage of pipes, tanks and hoses.
* Wear and tear of seals, connecting welds and sanitary appliances.
* Damage to shut-off, check and regulating equipments.
* High noise and powerful vibrations in both the pipes and the structures.
